Easy Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients

1 12 oz. package sausage
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup Bisquick mix
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 cups milk
4 eggs

Directions

Brown sausage, cook until done, then drain. Arrange crumbled sausage in bottom of a greased 9×13 pan. Arrange cheese on top of sausage. 

In a separate bowl, beat milk, eggs, Bisquick, salt, and pepper, until smooth. Pour mixture over cheese and sausage.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Optional Add-ins: Onions, mushrooms, spinach, etc. I’ve tried them all and they each give the dish a different twist. Have fun trying new things!

Lower Fat Version

1 12 oz. package 50% less fat sausage
1 8 oz. package fresh mushrooms (optional)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (lowfat)
1 cup Heart Smart Bisquick mix
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 cups skim milk
4 eggs

Directions

Brown sausage, cook until done, then drain. Arrange crumbled sausage in bottom of a greased 9×13 pan. Arrange cheese on top of sausage.

In a separate bowl, beat milk, eggs, Bisquick, salt, and pepper, until smooth. Pour mixture over cheese and sausage.
